Joy. That’s the best word to describe a recent evening with my 89-year-old friend Margaret – an expert clammer – along with a visiting friend from Toronto, her 9-year-old son, and her mom.
We set out at low tide (Margaret says the best clamming is about 20 minutes after low tide), just as a full moon began to rise.
The look on that 9-year-old’s face as he pulled his first clam from the sand? Pure, unfiltered excitement.
It was remarkable.
Worth remarking on.
The Purple Cow Principle
Seth Godin defines great marketing as being a Purple Cow – something remarkable in a field of ordinary brown cows.
That evening of clamming became remarkable not because it was planned as such, but because it was an experience worth sharing.
It’s the same with marketing: the stories and experiences that truly spread aren’t always the biggest wins or the most polished campaigns. They’re the ones that spark conversation.
What’s Remarkable About Your Business?
Here’s the question I left asking myself – and now, I’ll ask you:
👉 What’s remarkable about your business that’s worth sharing?
It might not be the thing you’re proudest of on paper.
Sometimes, it’s the behind-the-scenes story, the unexpected client success, or even the quirky detail that shows your personality.
Last week, my clamming adventure sparked more conversation than my business wins. And that’s the point:
The stories worth remarking on are the ones that spread.
Blending Old-School Fundamentals with Modern Tools
In my work, I help businesses uncover what makes them remarkable – and then amplify it.
That means:
-
Rooting strategy in marketing fundamentals (like storytelling and positioning).
-
Leveraging modern tools (AI, automation, and analytics) to spread those stories further and faster.
The result? Marketing that doesn’t just get noticed—it gets remembered.
Closing Thought
Remarkability doesn’t come from shouting louder. It comes from finding the moments, stories, and values that are worth remarking on – and then sharing them consistently.
If you’re curious how to uncover what’s remarkable about your business (and how to share it in a way that builds trust and growth), my inbox is open.
